YOUTH charity the Prince's Trust is offering unemployed young people from Tavistock the chance to experience classic sail training and start their journey into work or training.  

The trust is looking for unemployed 16 to-18-year-olds to take part in its five-day Get Started with Sailing programme, running in Torquay and Plymouth from October 17 to 21. The course will be run by sailing academy Cremyll Sailing and is part-funded by the European Social Fund.

Get Started with Sailing gives young people the opportunity to work with professionals in the sail training industry, live and sail on a classic yacht and gain a certificate from the Royal Yachting Association. The fun-packed programme will help young people improve their team work, communication skills and confidence.

The course is aimed at young people not in full-time education, training or work. 

After the course participants are given three months' support to help them into employment or further training.
