A CONCERT featuring three musical groups is being staged this weekend, to raise much needed funds for the Tavistock Muscular Dystrophy Group.

Blowzone, the Derrifonics and the HMS Drake Volunteer Band will take to the stage at Tavistock Methodist Chapel at 7.30pm on Saturday May 18.

Blowzone are an innovative woodwind band based in Tavistock, while the Derrifonics are a three-part ladies harmony choir made up from staff at Derriford Hospital.

Janet Piper, who sings with the Derrifonics, said: 'We're looking forward to an enjoyable evening of music with something to suit all tastes.

'We're delighted to raise funds for the Tavistock Muscular Dystrophy Group — the money will go to their holiday and welfare fund.'

Janet said this fund provides money for a holiday project, which gives a welcome break for local youngsters with MD and also helps raise money for equipment.

Tickets for the concert cost £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for non-waged and £10 for a family.
