A GROUP of travellers who had parked their vehicles on land at a food factory in Okehampton last week decided to move on after just 24 hours. Vehicles, including five caravans, and more than a dozen travellers, arrived on Wednesday at the car park of the Heinz food factory in North Road industrial estate. However, after being threatened with an eviction order and the arrival of the police, the travellers peacefully moved on just 24 hours later. Nigel Dickie, a spokesman for Heinz, told the Times: 'With the arrival of the travellers at our carpark we took the necessary action and put it in the hands of our solicitors to get an eviction notice. 'The travellers needed to be gone within 24 hours and they left by midday the next day. 'We are not expected them to see them again.' Mr Dickie said the incident had not affected production at the factory.
