THE damp conditions could not curb the enthusiasm of pupils for the annual pancake race around Walkhampton. Staff, parents and friends of Lady Modiford's C of E Primary School marshalled traffic while the children ran a course around the memorial, tossing their pancakes. The school expressed thanks to local drivers for their support and understanding. Headteacher Gavin Hamilton said: 'It is important that traditions like these thrive in our village communities. It may not make the 2012 Olympics but it was a time for sheer fun and laughter and was enjoyed by children and adults alike.'
