THE annual Lamerton Tractor Day and Country Fair returns this year for its third consecutive year and is due to be bigger and better than ever. What began as a local tractor run has become a vibrant country fair with an impressive static display of vintage tractors, classic cars, steam engines, old farm artefacts and historic presentations. The tractor road run will depart at 10.30am taking in a 15-mile route around the scenic country roads of Devon. People who don't own tractors can still join in the fun on the trailer tour, although space will be limited so arrive early to avoid disappointment. Main ring attractions start at noon with a miniature pony display, duck racing, children's games and the ever-popular family dog show with classes to suit every dog and owner. The tractor drivers will also get to work demonstrating a range of ploughing and cultivation techniques from times-gone-by and the addition of working heavy horses this year will be a real sight to behold. There will also be the opportunity for visitors to try their hand at tractor driving. Visitors can remain well fuelled throughout the afternoon with burgers, hot dogs and Devonshire cream teas courtesy of the Women's Institute. Browse a range of stalls, including many supporting local charities and throughout the day these will be children's games and a quiz. Lamerton Tractor Day and Country Fair can be found on the fields north of Lamerton, just off the C675 on Sunday (September 21) — just follow the tractor signs. All tractors are welcome to come along. If you have any questions, call Matt on 07966 881985.
