THE fifth round of tennis in the Plymouth and District League did not bring the expected results that the Tavistock Tennis Club would have liked this week.
Nevertheless team members put up a valiant fight against some much stronger teams and a number of club members, new to competitive tennis, are gaining valuable experience in League matches.
RESULTS: Division one — Men's A (Lynden Hardisty and Josh Brown, Simon Prout and Phil Ruse) v Ivybridge A (home), won as a result of a walk over, 8-0, points 39.
Division two: Men's B (Luke Wakley and Tony Du'Gay, Phil Harbottle and Gareth George) v Mannamead B (home), won 8-0, pts 21.
Division three: Men's C (Bernard Mowle and Ray Hinton, Matt Smith and Ron Skinner) v Plympton A (away), lost 0-8, pts 20. Men's D (Peter Rodgers and Bill Sparks, Jeremy Hyde and Paul Newton) v Plymstock A (home), lost 1-8, pts 19.
Division six: Men's E (John White and Alex Samborne, Mike Baker and Peter Bradley) v Plympton C (away), lost 1-8, pts 27.
Division seven: Men's F (George Newman and Steve Fletcher, John Medland and Rick Read) v Plympton D (home), won 8-0, pts 31.
Division one: Ladies A (Hilary Picton and Amanda Goodison, Alice Anstey and Sue Parsons) v Ivybridge A (away), lost 1-8, pts 17.
Division three: Ladies B (Alison West and Lucy Bozward, Josie Gerhold and Katie Hine) v St Budeaux B (home), lost 2-8, pts 25.
Division five: Ladies C (Liz Webb and Wendy George, Kathy Bryne and Mel Broadhead) v Whiteford Road B (away) draw 4-4, pts 19.
