TAVISTOCK Swimming Club's first gala of the Autumn term took place at Exmouth Sports and Leisure Centre, where teams competing included Kingsbridge Kingfishers, Exmouth SLSS, Devonport Royal, Torquay Leander and Dawlish SLSA.
Tavistock's team comprised many experienced older swimmers, but also several new younger members, swimming for the Club for the first time. Mark Hennessey showed he was back in excellent form in both the men's open individual medley and men's open backstroke finishing in first place, as did Gareth Williams in the men's open freestyle in a personal best time. Further individual first places were gained by Kris Chapman (boys 11/U backstroke and freestyle), Kieran Rookes (boys 11/U breaststroke), Kathryn Stacey (girls 15/U butterfly and freestyle) and Michael Best (men's open breaststroke). First places were also obtained by the boys 11/U freestyle and 11/U medley team (Kris Chapman, Matthew Adams, Jordan Channon, Kieran Rookes) and the men's open freestyle team (Jason Butler, Ross Williams, Tom Waddington, Michael Best, Gareth Williams, Mark Hennessey). A total of 12 first places and 15 personal best times were recorded, the team finishing in third place.
