North Devon 5
Tavistock 2
TAVISTOCK firsts appeared to lack their usual energy and determination last Sunday, perhaps owing to a somewhat thin turnout and a tough game the previous day.
North Devon's first two goals came from a couple of excellent runs and dynamic passing down the centre, which proved too much for the beleaguered visiting midfield and defence. A further run on goal was halted by keeper Mingo whcih resulted in a penalty flick putting Tavistock three goals down.
Determined to make a difference in the second half, Tavistock battled on and finally, with some more dynamic ball movement, Jake Doney hit one past the keeper. However, the opposition were quick to retaliate, over-running Woods to score their fourth goal.
During the first half the Tavistock midfield suffered another blow as Simon Marshall was forced to leave the field due to injuries sustained in Saturday's game. His loss was sorely missed as the home side scored their fifth and final goal. Yet, to their credit, Tavistock persevered and some superb positioning by Tommy West allowed him an opportunity which he converted into a superb shot, bringing the score to 5-2 to North Devon. A largely uneventful 15 minutes brought Tavistock to the end of a rather disappointing game.
Tavistock 2
Dart 2
IN this mid-table battle dart started well, with Tavistock a little slow to begin with conceding a short corner, chased down well by George and Carr. Shortly after, conceding a goal after some good open play from the home side.
After half time, Tavistock began to pass the ball well, and earned a short corner which captain at the time P Marchant flew past the keeper. After some interesting umpiring, forgetting the teams changed ends at half- time, Dart managed to take the lead again, after open play.
Finally after a great tackle from Carr, moving the ball to Lovett and down the right wing, new skipper S Marchant hit an absolutely Viking shot, with the keeper only just getting a pad to it, Cowen-D'Arcy's arrow like precision was unstoppable from one yard, levelling the game at 2-2.
Tavistock man of the match was Rory Carr.
