MEMBERS of a community garden in Chagford were celebrating on show day as they were awarded first prize for their trade stand.

Chagfood Community Garden took a stand to promote and 'show off' their local food initiative.

The garden supplies seasonal fruit and vegetables to Chagford's residents, with local people responsible for the care and maintenance of the crops and garden.

Chinnie Kingsbury, helping run the stand, said: 'Things are going from strength to strength for Chagfood. We have grown from 25 members to 70 this year. We have really expanded even though we have had this dreadful weather, the veg has triumphed.

'It is great to win for our trade stand here today, and it has all gone well.'
