THE ROYAL Oak at Meavy hosted the first ever Dartmoor Firkin Challenge on Saturday sponsored by the Princetown-based Dartmoor Brewery.

Teams of two had to carry empty beer barrels over a three mile course to Sheepstor and back.

l Pictured left are Mike Neenan and Ken Kay, members of Stannary Hash House Harriers, who finished the course in 77 minutes in twelfth place, with a highest combined age of 124.
