Truro B v Tavistock A

WITH ten men, Tavistock A prepared to take on Truro B in the true spirit of the game, to play win, lose or draw as best they could and play to the end.

Truro took an early lead and soon showed that the storm that settled overhead would be reflected in the play around Tavistock.

After absorbing the torrent for ten minutes Tavistock showed some promise in breaking out of their half several times but alas to no ultimate effect and the Truro side attacked in wave after wave, reflecting the lashing rain.

Tavistock's backs of Anning and Wheatley, with occasional support from Edwards and Kelly, could not stop the barrage on courageous keeper Roberts.

Anning taking hits to the knee and neck showed strength of character in battling on in a game that was well out of Tavistock's reach.

Mid field, Aveyard working hard to keep control, with Honey on the right continuing to try to take the game to Truro but conditions, and numbers on the pitch reduced to nine through injury and a period of sin binning, added to the impossible task laid before them.

This game was a true baptism of fire for newcomers to the team, Reynolds and North, who gave their all, their efforts much appreciated, with Reynolds having to retire through injury.

This was a game that will live in the memory for some time.

Man of the match Roberts was entertained by Truro throughout the game and good-spiritedly kept a smile on his face to the end.
