THE last game of the season and for this squad under junior rugby rules turned out to be physically the most demanding.

Saltash soaked up early Tavistock pressure before breaking away to score against the run of the game. Some of the Saltash forwards were determined to spoil the game with unnecessary foul play but Tavistock never took a step backwards.

Chris Margrett and Ian Smerdon took heavy knocks and had to be substituted. Poor tackling let the home side in for a further try before half-time.

After the interval the game became scrappier with Saltash adding a try and a penalty before a period of pressure saw captain Sam Morton score his final try of many for this age group.

Alex Moy had to use all his skill at scrum half with the close attention of the Saltash back row. Dan Smith and Jack Derges made many runs but good tackling kept them out.
