AT the annual ladies' dinner at Tavistock Golf Club it has become traditional that the the ladies' committee performs a cabaret for the women's captain and dinner guests.  This year the 'Golfing Girls' performed an energetic routine to music by the 'The Monkees.' During February the season got well under way with the men's fourball better ball open.  In division one John Harding and Rod Williams (Tavistock) came in with the excellent score of 43 pts.  Alan Pope and Rod Hillman (Tavistock) were in second place with 41 on countback from Adrian Grainger and Steve Treble (China Fleet Club).  The last Winter open of 2008 was held on Saturday. In the Ladies' monthly Stableford Fran Horton came first with 33 points; second Belinda McSherry on 32 and third Marjorie Greening on 31.  In division two in first place was Pat Hoar on 37, second Ruth Myott on 34 and third Ginny Samborne on 33.  In division three first was Barbara Porter on 34 points, second Barbara Ham on 32 and third Margaret Burn on 31. First in division one of the men's monthly Stableford was Mike Beveridge who won with 38 pts on countback from Mark Ingram. In third place was Graham Horton with 37. In division two Peter Page won on countback from Darren Hall with 35 while in third place was Rod Sleep on 34 pts.
