BATs B team opened their league campaign in division 3 of the Plymouth and District Badminton League with an away fixture against Torpoint B. With two players moving up from the BATs B team to the A team this season the B team has a new look.

In the men's doubles rubbers it was the second pairing of David Wright and Chris Carter who took the first point for BATs when they won a close three ender 21–8, 17–21, 21–16.

The first rubber had gone the way of Torpoint and both teams were determined to take the third point in the third rubber. In the end it was the Torpoint pair who won a second close three ender, 17–21, 21–18, 16–21.

In the ladies' doubles rubbers the first went to Torpoint 16–21, 15–21 but things were to change when Megan Farmer stepped onto the court.

The second Torpoint ladies' pair had no answer to her and Colette David's clinical play when they took the second rubber 21–17, 21–14. With the Torpoint ladies up against it the third rubber was a tense one which went to three ends. In the end it was the experience of the Torpoint pairing who won the rubber 19–21, 23–21, 23–25.

The first mixed doubles rubber saw BATs mother and son pairing of Colette and James David take the first game 21–16 before the Torpoint pair had really got started.

But the Torpoint pairing came back to take the second games 8–21 and, after a close tussle, the third game and the rubber point 23–21. David Wright and Kelly Pearce then turned the tables on Torpoint by taking a well worked out third end in another close rubber, 21–17, 17–21, 21–17. The third mixed doubles rubber saw the new BATs partnership of Chris Carter and Megan Farmer improve with each point they played but lose out to Torpoint 12–21, 19–21.

At the end of the match Torpoint had won 6-3 but all the BATs players came away knowing that, if a few final game points had gone their way, the result could have been the other way around.
