TAVISTOCK music lovers will have a chance to hear top concert pianist Daniel de Borah when he comes to give a recital to the Kelly College Concert Society on Wednesday October 18. Born in Melbourne in 1981, Daniel went on to study at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and the St Petersburg State Conservatoire. In 2005 he was selected for representation by Young Concert Artists Trust (YCAT) in London. Daniel has already performed widely in Australia, Europe and Russia including concerts at Sydney Opera House, the St Petersburg Small Philharmonic Hall, St Petersburg State Cappella, Vilnius Academy of Music and the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He has won numerous international awards including the 2004 Sydney International Piano Competition, the 2001 Tbilisi International Piano Competition and the 2000 Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam Competition in Poland. At Kelly College, Daniel will be presenting a popular programme of music by Haydn, Chopin and Schumann. His appearance in Tavistock is sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust. The concert takes place in the Melvin Hall at the College at 7.45pm. Tickets will be available on the door at £9.00 (concessions £7.00); accompanied students under 18 are admitted free.
