Three way round Robin Okehampton U14s 0 Exeter chiefs U14s 19 WITH Exeter being one of the top Devon sides at this age, this was always going to be a difficult game for the Dartmoor boys. The early exchanges saw Exeter throw everything at Okehampton, the home side held out with some solid tackling from Darcy Heard, Kevin Dennis, Merrick Kirby and Cameron Rickerby. The breakthrough came when the Exeter backs spun the ball wide to their winger who rounded his opposite number to score. Two more tries followed before half time, first Exeter drove a maul over the line, followed by their centre scoring under the posts, to leave the score 19-0 at the break. The second half could have seen Okehampton capitulate, however, Exeter could not penetrate the home side defence again. Although Okehampton never looked like they were going to threaten the Exeter line, they made certain Exeter didn?t cross theirs again. Okehampton U14s.............5 Cranliegh U14s.................12 THIS was a far more even contest than the previous game. Cranliegh dominated at the start but were unable to penetrate the Okehampton defence. The home side eventually managed to work their way up the field and from a quickly taken penalty, Chris Penna ran half the length of the field to score the opening try. A ?dubious? referee?s decision allowed an offside Cranliegh player to pick the ball up, pass it out to their fleet-footed winger to score on half time. The second half saw Okehampton enjoy most of the possession, however Cranliegh managed to score another breakaway try. The final ten minutes saw Okehampton camped in the Cranliegh twenty two but unable to score. In the presentations afterwards, Cranliegh awarded Cameron Rickerby with ?Man of the Match? for his outstanding defence.
