Tavistock A 1
Chudleigh A 2
TAVISTOCK seconds hockey team played in-form Chudleigh who were in third position of the league.
The home side knew it would be a hard match and with only ten players battled hard against well organised opposition.
With strong pressure from Tavistock the break finally came, with a well timed run down the right wing by Newman Jnr. He crossed the ball into the D and found young Thompson who scored his first goal for Tavistock.
Chudleigh started to get back into the game and with a dubious decision from the umpire, were given a penalty flick. Moyse was unlucky not to save a poor shot from the away side who had now levelled the score.
It looked as though Tavistock would earn a well deserved point, but towards the end, Chudleigh had numerous short corners and beat the strong defence of Tavistock.
With five minutes remaining Tavistock were down to eight players, but Chudleigh could not beat a high spirited home side to put the game out of reach.
Tavistock now look forward to their last game of the season, a local derby against Okehampton this Saturday.
