It's all systems go on Pixon Lane, as Tinhay Building Supplies starts its final countdown for the Tavistock branch opening.
The six-strong team is busy making the final preparations to the new branch to make sure it is ready when the doors open to Tavistock's trade and DIY customers on Monday 4 April.
Tavistock's branch manager, Karen Curtis, has been working in the building industry for 12 years. She joined Tinhay Building Supplies in January and has been working from the Lifton branch, learning about the company's stocks, systems and procedures.
"I'm really excited about the Tavistock branch opening, it will be great to have a 'home branch', rather than lodging at someone else's."
Karen's husband, Mike, is the branch manager at Tinhay's Lifton site, so she will be competing against him on sales targets and customer service but says she is used to competing with him!
"There is nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition. Mike and I are two very different people but we are both passionate about delivering great customer service and being happy in our jobs – which is why we work for Tinhay Building Supplies!
"People in the building trade are busy and need good, prompt service, expert advice and competitive prices from a reputable company. Our new branch on Pixon Lane offers just that and Tinhay Building Supplies is bigger than you think as each branch carries a core range as well as a specialist selection of products and services. If we don't have something in stock at one branch we will arrange for it to be there within a few hours – it's like having three branches under one roof!"
Staff at the Pixon Lane branch will be busy this week making sure the shelves are fully stocked with product and readying the outlet for the start of business on 4 April when the branch will open its gates at 7:30am.
Tinhay Building Supplies was formed by Robert Sorrell and Paul Davies in 1999 when they spotted an opportunity to open a site in Lifton. The company now employs 26 people and operates from three sites in Devon and Cornwall (Launceston, Lifton and Tavistock).
