Tidy Tavi's December litter pick saw another good turnout with 25 volunteers and 29 bags of rubbish collected.
This time, teams had some members dedicated to collecting just recycling items. Six full bags of recyclable material were collected. Recycling proved rewarding and will form part of future Tidy Tavi days.
The team working in Tavistock town centre were disappointed that the litter bins had not been emptied after Dickensian Evening. They were full to overflowing, with rubbish on the ground. The bus station bin was also overflowing.
The Tidy Tavi team helped to empty some of the bins and swept up cigarette ends and rubbish under the benches.
A large amount of litter was cleared from the hedgerow at the end of Parkwood Road towards College Avenue. Another team concentrated on the canal path and around the Tavistock College and Crowndale Road.
New volunteers are welcome to come along to the Tidy Tavi New Year litter pick on Saturday, January 5, from 9.50am until noon — meet at the Wharf.
