WHITCHURCH Wayfarers U15 Colts stared their Palladium League campaign against Tideford at Whitchurch House.

Winning the toss Whitchurch elected to bat, opener Josh Towl and debutant Rob Bone started well, but with the score on 12 Towl received a great delivery from Dermaine and was bowled on off stump.

Charlie Barriball joined Bone and together they built a great partnership of 146, Bone (52no) and Barriball (62no) giving Whitchurch a final score of 158 for one wicket.

Tideford had a bad start losing M Gribble, for 0lbw to Johnnie Goff. A revival between Hunn and Nuruz accumulated 43, before Christian Hodges had Hunn caught at the wicket by Barney Megicks and Dan Poole took another wicket thanks to a Johnnie Goff catch. Poole continued with a fine spell of 4-1-12-1 supported by David Northey 2-0-22-1, Johnnie Goff 3-0-16-1, Christian Hodges 4-0-18-1 and Will Bennett 2-0-11-1, to make sure Tideford came up short.

Ben Hodge, Josh Towl, Charlie Barriball, Billy Barriball (captain), Rob Bone, Barney Megicks (wk) and particularly Will Bennett all fielded well to support the bowlers, helping Whitchurch to win by 44 runs.
