AN elderly Milton Abbot woman is recovering this week after being duped by burglars.
The woman, who is 81, was shocked and distressed after a thief entered her home and stole £500 in cash. She is being supported by friends and neighbours.
Police said a man, posing as a social worker, kept her talking on the doorstep, while an accomplice got into her house at the rear and stole the money.
The burglary is being linked to a similar attack a couple of weeks ago in the village and is believed to have been committed by members of a large group carrying out such attacks all over the South West and making their escape up the M5.
