OKEHAMPTON Golf Club ladies are getting into the swing of the season.

A friendly match against Torrington Golf Club at Torrington resulted in an honourable half, and with the first Sheelagh Creasey match held at Tiverton, the season would seem to be on its usual busy way.

In the Creasey match Okehampton managed to win an important away point, with two halved matches, resulting in a 6-1 defeat. It leaves the door open for the Okehampton ladies to gain an overall win in the home match in the beginning of July.

Some good scores headed the field in the April Medal, when some 20 ladies played, again a very healthy entry.

Marcia Holwill headed the field with a gross 87-19-net 68. Second, also under her handicap, was Cherry James 93-24-net 69, third was Penny Deakin, gross 86-14-net 72. Fourth was Lyn Atkinson with a net 73. Penny was the only lady, on the day, to have a two.

The bronze ladies have their second match away at Honiton this Friday and the silver ladies start their campaign with a home match against Tiverton on Tuesday April 18.
