GREEN fingers galore grace West Devon but there are none more deserving of recognition than those from Okehampton's Puzzle Tree Community Hub.

Earlier in the summer, members of the Puzzle Tree were delighted to learn that their plot at Fatherford Road Allotments has been named the best plot at a special open day.

To celebrate the Puzzle Tree's success, the Fatherford Road Allotment Association, in conjunction with Okehampton United Charities, recently presented a specially made plaque to the Puzzle Tree members.

Allotment association secretary, Tony Dion, said: 'These guys are incredible. I've been working with handicapped folks for years and it's very hard to imagine the sense of pleasure I get from watching them harvest their crops.

'The regular sense of accomplishment that it shows is everything for them.'

Vicky Hooper, support worker at the Puzzle Tree, added: 'We're delighted, we go up to the allotments a couple of times a week.

'Everyone loves it, particularly at this time of year. We come home with all sorts of different things and people get so much pleasure out of it, it's amazing.

'Tony has been brilliant and we wouldn't have been able to get to where we are without his help.'

The specially made plaque was provided by and presented to Puzzle Tree members at the Puzzle Tree Centre by Peter Green, a trustee of Okehampton United Charities.

The Puzzle Tree enables any adult with learning disabilities to meet friends as well as getting advice and information on a whole host of different things they can do.

They are based at Okehampton Table Tennis Club, behind the Post Office on Castle Road and are open between 9am and 3pm from Monday to Friday.
