TAVISTOCK Swimming Club, fielding two teams, in their home gala at Meadowlands against Bude and Devonport on Saturday saw Tavistock A emerge as the winners in a friendly and sporting event with an impressive total of 33 personal best times recorded.

The 11/under mixed 4x25 freestyle relay produced some fine swimming from all teams with Bude touching first which left Tavistock and Devonport battling it out for second place. It went to Tavistock with Francesca Gould swimming a determined last length. The boys? 11/under 100m individual medley event saw Ross Williams and Joshua Stephens improve their times by 12 seconds and 11 seconds respectively.

First places went to Richard Freedman (2), James Lake (3), Kirsty Best (1), Rebecca Mills (3), Mark Hennessey (3), Joshua Hughes (1), Adam Browner (1), Jake Broome (1), Rachel Kelly (2), Matthew Lake (1), Francesca Gould (1), Michael Best (2), Ross Williams (1), Chris Ralph (1), Sophie McGowan (1).

Representing Tavistock for the first time were Freya Rendle, Edward Ames, Kirsty Smith, Barnaby Frost, Laura Aspen, Sara Cruickshank, Rebecca Price and Catrina Smith, all of whom swam very well with a number of personal best times between them.

Tavistock look forward to their next gala, the first round of the Cornwall and West Devon League which will be held at Dinnaton later this month.
