AN enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the annual Tavistock Times Gazette Cup match hosted by Tavistock Cricket Club at The Ring on Sunday. The cup was originally donated by the paper 20 years ago to commemorate Jack Davey?s contribution to cricket in the Tavistock area, Jack having joined Gloucestershire CCC in 1966 played through the glory days alongside Procter, Sadiq and Zaheer until his retirement in 1979. The game was between the host club and a West Devon XI. The visitors, West Devon Xl, won the match by 18 runs. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful setting of ?The Ring? and its fantastic views across Devon and Cornwall ? as well as the hospitality of the cricket club.
