Tavistock CFC Ladies 4
Plainmoor Ladies 0
THIS was not an easy victory for the Tavistock side against their Torquay oppenents in a physical game and it took Tavistock some 10 minutes into the game to adjust accordingly.
Tavistock wingers Bammons and Jones showed their speed and confidence as Weeks and Blowey up front began to create chances. The back four of Cox, Glasspoole, Shaw and Maloney were solid. It was on a break from Bammons, put through by Cox, that saw her run far up the wing, cut in and shoot low into the net. In midfield Turner and then Emily John added aggression and Tavistock showed they are not a team to be physically intimidated.
Plainmoor were quick on the attack but not quick enough to beat home goalkeeper Stock. Shortly before half time player of the match Robyn Hammond ran through three players went out wide and slotted out to Blowey who steamed down the wing, cut in and smashed into the net.
The second half began with Tavistock defending and once again Glasspoole was outstanding. Shaw came off injured and Tanya Coker went on and despite her size fought alongside the midfield bravely. The next Tavistock goal came following a through ball by Weeks to Blowey, who ran down the wing, cut in and shot hard into the net. Turner was also unlucky not to score. An injury to Blowey saw Hurley returning to play and Hammond dropping back in defence. Tavistock hit the bar twice from Jones and Maloney but it was Weeks who finished the game off and Tavistock maintain their third position slot.
