A BRAVE 15-year-old from Tavistock has recently completed a charity head shave to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Having already cut off most of her hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust, Tish Brown was joined by her aunt and uncle at The Hair Lounge last Wednesday (March 9), to complete the job.

Tish said: ‘I’m not sure why I decided to do it – a few of my family members have struggled with cancer, so I wanted to do it for them. I was a little bit nervous before and I was really shaking after.

‘I have donated my hair to the Little Princess Trust because my teacher mentioned the charity once and I thought the hair would just be thrown away anyway!

‘I have raised £430 and my target was £250 so I am very proud. I would like to thank my aunty, my mum and the hairdresser! My friends are impressed with what I have managed to do and so are my teachers.’

Tish’s aunt Carol Moran added: ‘Since she has had it done she has received even more donations! The whole family are so proud. When she told me she was going to do it I said to her “Are you sure? You don’t want all your hair taken off do you?!

‘She plaited her hair and cut off the pigtails and will be donating them too but she did that at home – she didn’t want to wait until she got to the hairdressers!

‘We are just very proud for what she has done. It is a big thing for a 15-year-old!’

As for the new hairstyle, Tish said: ‘I quite like it! I am definitely getting used to it!’
