Tavistock 4
Yeovil 3
HAVING produced a convincing win over Plymouth University last week the team were ready to tackle league leaders Yeovil.
A fast pace match ensued and it was not long until Luke Daniels firmly struck the back board pushing Tavistock into a 1-0 lead.
Josh Cowen-Darcey fought hard with Paul Marchant in the centre of the pitch, both consistently delivering inspirational passes.
It was not enough to stop Yeovil equalising; however, only minutes later Greg Amann found space and the goal to move Tavistock back into the lead before the half time whistle. Tavistock then quickly capitalised when Damian Heard flicked the ball over the keeper from a Daniels rebound. The visitors soon re-grouped and scored two in quick succession.
A solid Tavistock defence with Phil Edwards, Gareth George, Dale Wood and Rory Carr were able to hold back the attacks and within the dying minutes Lloyd Colin and Jake Doney managed to link up and force a short corner. Paul Marchant needed no excuse to slot this in the goal under the Yeovil keeper to secure the match with only a couple of minutes left.
Tavistock thirds 1
Plymouth Uni fourths 3
FOR the second week running Tavistock took the lead, this week with a belter of a reverse stick from Nick Andrews. The first half saw good play by both sides with Plymouth Uni scoring an equaliser just before half time.
The second half brought plenty of chances for both sides. But Plymouth Uni scored swiftly on the break. Twice Tavistock were caught out where even Martin Osborne best attempts were not good enough. Tavistock's chances came mainly from short corners where two goals, one by Dom Stanbury and one by Nick Andrews, were scored but disallowed.
