WHEN Jessica Inacio fancied a shorter haircut for the summer, she opted not to let her lovely long hair go to waste.

Instead, the caring 15-year-old, from Tavistock, donated her locks to the charity The Little Princess Trust, which makes real hair wigs for children with cancer.

Jessica, a student at Tavistock College, has also raised £315 for the charity through donations from family and friends.

The deed was done at Urban Styling hairdressers in Tavistock, with manager Hannah Marshall giving her services for free. She took 12 inches off Jessica’s waist-length hair and gave her a restyle for the summer.

‘I decided to donate my hair because I didn’t want to waste it’ said Jessica. ‘I thought ill children could probably make better use of it.’

Her mum Tanya said that Jessica had decided to have a chop before the family’s summer holiday in Portugal.

‘Her dad is Portuguese so we are going on holiday to Portugal in two weeks. Her hair was really long and she fancied a bit of a restyle before we went.

‘She didn’t want to just chuck the hair away so she came up with idea of giving it to The Little Princess Trust. She contacted the charity and sorted it all out herself.’
