Tavistock 1st 3 Bodmin 2 THIS week Tavistock came to face a talented Bodmin side that were determined to get a result from this game after earning a point against the top of the league the week before. Tavistock started the more sluggish out of the sides and were not first to the ball on many occasions. With some sloppy marking this led to a Bodmin goal within the first few minutes of the game. The home side lacked their usual flare and failed to control the middle and lost track of their opposition leading to another Bodmin goal to give them a 2-0 lead early in the first half. However towards the end of the first half Tavistock started to play some better hockey and created some good chances for themselves with Cooley working well down the left earning the team some well deserved short corners which they did not score from. A breakthrough came to Tavistock just before the half time whistle when a nicely played deflected pass from Vinson found Cooley at the top of the D where he skilfully beat one player to slot in Tavistock's first goal and give them a glimmer of hope for the second half. The second half saw Tavistock raise their game further with some good hockey down the right hand side with Cowen, Honey and McDougal linking well together. This soon led to a short corner being awarded to Tavistock, which they capitalised on with their trade mark routine from Honey and Vinson to give them the equaliser. Bodmin then started to work themselves back into the game and with some sloppy defending gained themselves some short corners. However with the absence of captain Bradley in goal Kelly stepped up to the mark and made some magnificent saves to keep Tavistock in the game. Tavistock fed off this adrenalin and created further chances in the D which they made through a short corner; from this they won themselves a penalty flick which Vinson calmly slotted in to give Tavistock the 3-2 victory and the three points. Tavistock now widen the gap at second in the league to four points and are chasing the top place who are a point ahead. Man of the match was Ander Cooley. Next week Tavistock play away to East Devon.
