A TAVISTOCK minister will need to wear a hat this winter after shaving his head to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Newly-appointed methodist minister the Rev Phil Griffin took part in Macmillan’s Brave the Shave and raised more than £225 for the charity.
Mr Griffin, 33, said: ‘I haven’t received all the details of how much will have been raised yet, but the total will be over £225, which is 50 per cent more than I had originally hoped to raise.
‘It has proved to be an interesting conversation starter and I’ve had more than a few double takes when people see the skinhead and then spot the clerical collar!
‘The night before the shave my older daughter said to me “Daddy, I don’t want you to have a hair cut — I won’t recognise you as Daddy!”, but now her sister and she are enjoying patting me on the head!
‘I am really glad to have been able to take part in Brave the Shave and am so grateful to everyone who has donated money to support the wonderful work of Macmillan Cancer Support.’
