ON the fourth Saturday of each month, the Tavistock Country Bus Service 134 heads to Torquay.

On this service, the bus travels along the western edge of Dartmoor, passing through Cadover Bridge and calling into the hamlets of Wotter, Lee Moor and Cornwood before reaching Ivybridge.

The route then goes on through Avonwick to historical Totnes; then on to Paignton, stopping off at the zoo on the way for those interested.

From Paignton the bus takes the coastal route to Torquay, where passengers can spend the day visiting Living Coasts watching penguins, potter around the harbour-side or just sunbathe on the golden sands.

The next journey will be on Saturday, April 23. The bus sets off from Tavistock Bus Station at 9.10am and then to Bedford Square and returns to Tavistock at 6.06pm.

Tavistock Country Bus is also due to roll out a new booking system.

A spokesperson said: ’Following feedback from our passengers, we have decided to alter the number of seats which can be booked for Saturday and Wednesday services.

’Booking will now be available for up to eight seats on the bus and can be made regardless of where you live.

’As our services are very popular, please check availability and book with the transport office. The booking must be made within a two week period before the day of travel and concessionary bus passes can be used. The remaining eight seats will be available for passengers boarding either at the start of the service or at stopping points along the way.’
