WEST Devon communities celebrated Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, including the lighting of a beacon on Whitchurch Down.
Mike LePage, now in his 90th year, lit the beacon with Tavistock deputy mayor and guests.
Tavistock Area Support Services were involved with a party for the Queen at Horrabridge Village Hall, attended by West Devon mayor Cllr David Cloke.
A Bramley apple tree was planted at Crapstone playing fields to mark the occasion. Her Majesty herself paid a visit — well, a cardboard cut-out did at least!
See next Thursday’s Times for more pictures and information on celebrations in the area. Photos by James Bird.
