Tavistock U15s 53 Wadebridge U15s 14 A SHORTAGE of players for Tavistock saw several players in unaccustomed positions. The normal loose forward trio all had to play as backs and soon began to revel in the extra space this gave them. The home side got off to a shaky start as Wadebridge were the first to score off a five metre scrum. Tavistock responded soon after as the ball was moved out to Dan Oner on the wing who outpaced the visitors for Tavistock?s first try. A similar move saw Oner score again to put Tavistock ahead and this was followed by George Rogers scoring on the opposite wing following a clever dummy and sidestep. Wadebridge scored their second towards the end of the first half but Tavistock maintained their advantage with a try from Tom Rickard at inside centre just before the end of the half. Tavistock had now established their superiority on the game as the makeshift set of backs had quickly learnt the benefit of moving the ball around the field. Further tries came from Rickard and Oner, and from Mark Friend at outside centre after an excellent combination between the Tavistock half backs and centres. Wadebridge maintained their effort, however after a spell with the visitors camped on the Tavistock five metre line Oner brought his tally to four ties with a break the length of the field. The final score came from scrum half Niall Murphy with another long distance break. Josh Leeson converted four of the Tavistock tries.
