A LARGE, colourful canvas created by local artists has been presented to Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS).
Over the past few months, artists from West Dartmoor Art Group (WDAG) have covered the canvas with still life paintings of individual jugs and plates.
The communal effort was recently completed and it was decided that TASS should be the recipient of the artwork.
Anne Hibbert, member of the art group, was given the blank canvas but did not know what to do with it — it was then decided to run a group ‘still life’ project to fill the canvas and bring it to life.
‘It was a combined effort from 30 members. We were searching for a good home for our work and TASS came first,’ she said. ‘It’s a lively painting and TASS is the perfect place for our work.’
Diane Newman, general manager of TASS, said she was grateful to the art group for its donation: ‘The painting will be shared between Rest A While in the pannier market and the main hall at the Anchorage Centre so that everyone can enjoy the painting. It’s an amazing piece.’
