THE semi-final of the Pretoria Handicap Cup in the Okehampton and district table tennis league was finally played between Okehampton C of the second division and Bridestowe of the first. Although for Okehampton C Maureen Venton did well to beat Mark Fogerty 21-16, 15-21,21-4 and Francis Griffiths 21-8, 14-21, 21-11, Bridestowe were too strong winning the next three single and the two doubles for a 5-2 win. In the final Bridestowe were against division one winners Tavistock A. The two doubles went to a third leg decider but the singles were all decided in two legs, with a rampant Tavistock winning the match 7-0. Tavistock A having won the league and the Bill Fogerty Trophy completed the treble with the Pretoria Handicap Cup. The team of Fred Phillips, Roger Bowker and Peter Hicks proved unstoppable again this year not having lost a league or cup game all season.
