SOMETHING fishy will be on the menu at a selection of West Devon hotels and restaurants next month, all to raise awareness of the plight of the Cornish fishing industry.

Chefs and restaurateurs from West Devon are backing National Fish Week which takes place next month, by offering an expanded range of fish dishes on their menus throughout the week.

Paul Hostan-Pegrum, chef at Betty Cottles, just outside Okehampton, is among those taking part in the scheme and will be offering a special selection of fish dishes alongside the restaurant?s ordinary menu, during the last week of August.

Paul said the aim of the week would be to promote the fishing industry which was part of Britain?s heritage.

?The British fishing industry is not in a very good state of affairs at the moment and we don?t want to lose it. What we are saying is ?Come on, let?s do something for the Cornish fisherman?,? he said.

Any restaurants or hotels in the area interested in supporting the West Devon initiative for National Fish Week is asked to contact Paul at Betty Cottles on 01837 55339 for further details.
