Whitchurch v Feniton

WHITCHURCH First XI's season went from bad to worse when they were soundly beaten by Feniton.

Table topping Feniton clearly were in no mood for an upset. Batting first they racked up 276 with Kingdom not out on 145 being the clear highlight. The bowling figures were not ones to bare too much scrutiny as wickets were hard to come by and runs flowed without a break. The weakened batting side was always going to find this total troublesome. Ewen Smith (26) and Josh Meadows (21) got going but neither could move on to the big score that was much needed by one batsman.

Pyle (3-31 off 9) ensured that there was no let up and Whitchurch folded for 122 yielding a comfortable 20 points to Feniton and bringing the prospect of relegation ever closer.

It isn't all doom though.

Josh Vernon and Billy Barriball showed they have the promise for the future to bring about a transformation in the fortunes of the team. Making sure they and others experience league cricket at an early stage will pay dividends.
