Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 2 Wadebridge 0 THE Lambs are top of the table after this game with a maximum three wins out of three. Club captain Nigel Pugh started his first game since injuring his calf during the pre season friendly against Chester with Will Stringer moving into midfield and, in turn, John Morris moving forward to lead the attack alongside Mark Conday. They almost took the lead in spectacular fashion from the kick off with Morris getting to the by-line to cut the ball back for Shane Krac to fire in a shot that keeper Mark Gears could only parry, Conday?s follow up was blocked and the ball fell invitingly for Chris Menhinick to shoot across goal just wide of the target. But they did not have to wait too long before they went ahead in the 6th minute. Sean Cann, James Steer and Krac combined down the right for the latter to cross for Stringer to head home from close range at the far post. Conday then went close after a dreadful defensive mistake but a last ditch tackle prevented him from scoring. Right on the stroke of half time the home side had to be thankful to keeper Andy Meeds when, somehow, he got across his area to finger tip away a certain goal from a Paul Waters header and then thwarted John May to smother the ball on the edge of the area. The second half was just 10 minutes old when the Lambs increased their lead with the crucial second goal. Steer got a shot in on the keeper but the ball rolled out at speed to Lee Ireland fully 35 yards out, he caught it first time for it to fly high into the net with Gears left stranded in ?neutral? position. The nearest the ?Bridgers? got to opening their account was in the 75th minute when Stuart Parkyn?s free kick high into the area bounced off Meeds cross bar. Team: Andy Meeds, Sean Cann, Lee Ireland, Shane Krac, Mike Arscott, Nigel Pugh (capt, sub John Hadjiyanni 75m) , James Steer (sub Paul Cowling 80m), Will Stringer, John Morris, Mark Conday (sub Glynn Hobbs 85m).
