OKEHAMPTON Otters Swimming Club were once again well represented by eleven swimmers at this year?s Bodmin Open meeting for swimmers aged from nine to sixteen years and over.
With medals awarded up to sixth position the Okehampton swimmers amassed an impressive eight medals between them with two swimmers finishing in top ten positions in the BAGCAT tables.
Twelve year old Matthew Webber took eighth position and with a succession of spectacular swims thirteen year old Matthew Westlake bagged top spot in the thirteen year old group table.
Of the thirty five individual swims, fifteen finished in top ten positions in their age groups with twenty one swims being personal best performances.
Three Otters Age Group records were broken, falling to Matthew Westlake in his 100m backstroke, 100m breastroke and 100m butterfly events.
Matthew Westlake took podium position in his 100m breastroke, third positions in 100m backcrawl and 100m Individual Medley, fourth in 100m Butterfly and ninth in 100m freestyle in the 13 year olds boys? events.
Competing in the twelve year old age group, Matthew Webber completed his 50m breastroke in third spot, 50m Freestyle in fifth spot and 50m backcrawl in sixth position.
Despite feeling under the weather Amelia Allen finished a respectable eighth position in her 100m Individual Medley and 50m freestyle in the girls? twelve year old group.
A determined effort saw eleven year old Tom Aylen take fourth position in his 50m backstroke and tenth in his 50m breastroke with brother Michael completing both his 100m backcrawl and 100m breastroke in ninth slot. Nine year old Sam Collett finished a respectable tenth in his 50m backstroke in the boys? ten year old group.
Other swimmers competing were Rebecca Ewen, Elona Wonnacott, Eloise Allen, Emma Jackman and Chloe Sanders swimming eleven personal best times between them.
