DJM Albion U18s
Looe Town U18s 2
Tavistock CFC U18s 3
A CONFIDENT Tavistock were keen to avenge a 2-1 defeat by Looe earlier in the season, when they had been denied by the woodwork on eight occasions.
However they were soon frustrating Looe as Ed Argles, Nick Cunningham and Louis Wilson stifled Looe's attacking moves in midfield, leaving Brad Monk, in the Tavistock goal, as a spectator for most of the first half.
Ethan Edwards and Jonny Hake for Tavistock both went close to opening the scoring before, midway through the half, Josh Vernon was released with a clear run on goal to give Tavistock the lead.
Tavistock continued to press and 10 minutes later doubled the lead when Vernon played in Matt Havron who finished clinically.
Jack Quinn, Stephen Price and Cadan Lowther looked solid in the Tavistock's defence, but they were caught napping just before half time allowing Looe to pull a goal back and throwing them a lifeline.
Looe started the second half full of determination and some neat football saw them level the match and put Tavistock on the back foot. As Tavistock looked to reassert themselves, it looked like the curse of woodwork was coming back to haunt them, as first Wilson's long distance strike rattled the crossbar, and then Edwards deft finish, when one on one with the keeper, came back off the post.
Moments later Jack Haigh found himself through on goal but saw his shot go wide of the goal.
But Tavistock were not going to be denied and 10 minutes from time Sam Walker's quick throw released Wilson, who slipped the ball across the face of the goal for Hake to tap home for a well deserved victory.
