THE Cornish Theatre Collective present Bohelland, a Plough Arts Centre event in the garden at Torrington 1646 on Saturday.

Bohelland is the new outdoor touring production from the highly acclaimed Cornish Theatre Collective. Based on the black letter pamphlet of 1618 ?news from Penryn in Cornwall of a most bloody and unexampled murder?, this newly commissioned script is written by the award-winning playwright Justin Chubb.

Bohelland is a brooding Cornish tragedy told in a bold and daring physical style with a poetic and punchy script. Audiences will be transported to the Cornwall of 1618, where corruption, smuggling and witchcraft form the backdrop of this exciting story.

The Cornish Theatre Collective was founded in 1997 and has rapidly become known as a vibrant force in Cornish theatre today. The company has toured its work nationally and taken most of its productions to London.

On Sunday June 1 USA bluesman Ben Andrews will perform in the garden of Torrington 1646.

Ben has frequently been compared to such great artists as Eric Bibb and Ry Cooder.

The list of legendary artists he has appeared with reads like a roll call from history ? Muddy Waters, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Bo Diddley and many more.

His rich voice perfectly complements his playing and his picking on a variety of guitars ? 12 string, Dobro, six string ? is awesome! It is rare to get a combination of superb guitar playing, stunning vocals and natural swing, but with Ben Andrews you get just that.

He has appeared at festivals throughout the USA and Europe for over 20 years and is stopping off at Torrington on his way to play the main stage at Glastonbury.

Weather permitting, this performance will take place in the romantic setting of the garden at ?Torrington 1646?. There will be some seating available, but you can bring your own chairs or rugs (and picnic, bottle etc). If the weather is poor, the event will be held at the Plough Arts Centre.

Box Office: 01805 624624.

l The Cornish Theatre Collective will perform Bohelland at Morewellham Quay, June 4; Sterts Centre, Upton Cross June 5 and 6 and Lydford Gorge, June 12.
