TAVISTOCK'S amateur theatre company, the Tavonians, is appealing for writers to help create a series of sound plays.
The company is looking for people who could write a 20 to 25-minute script suitable for broadcast on hospital radio, through talking newspapers or on the internet. The project offers an opportunity for new writers to build a portfolio and for established writers to gain a foothold in this field.
The series title will be 'Stonesthrow Soundplays' and the plays should be connected to the local area, either through characters or setting, and suitable for broadcast to a wide audience. The subject matter is up to the writer. Historical, present day and even futuristic drama and comedy are all welcome.
The copyright will remain with the author but the scripts must be provided free of royalty payments or licence fees and with consent for performances to be given unlimited, worldwide distribution subject to acknowledgement of authorship.
It is proposed to make the first recording in May or June and the script will be selected form those received by the deadline of April 30. Scripts not selected for the first recording may be considered for subsequent ones and there will be opportunities to submit further scripts on an ongoing basis as the series develops.
Anyone interested in submitting one or more scripts, visit the website http://www.tavonians.org.uk/stonesthrow">www.tavonians.org.uk/stonesthrow for more details.
