YEAR seven students at TAvistock College and their parents enjoyed an astronomy evening at the college recently.

The group took part in a variety of activities linking with the night sky. Local astronomer Clive Purchase led the informative session and helped everyone to recognise different constellations by viewing through large telescopes into a clear sky.

There were also rockets to be made and fired and a short presentation on NASA.

The evening was organised by Tavistock's Adult and Community Learning, which is also offering parents and students the opportunity to make a short animated film about the night sky.
