A FAMILY fun ‘safari’ covering Tavistock town centre is being launched this Saturday (July 18).

Tavistock BID has organised the safari story-trail to help spread joy, support the NHS and give families a safe reason to return into the town centre.

Families and households will be invited to search the streets for ten cute and colourful ‘MonsterHeroes’.

Using only smartphones, the safari allows people to learn each of the MonsterHero’s name, story and superpowers. Once all ten are found, a free e-book, that tells the story of their first team-up, will be unlocked.

The safari works by utilising contactless technology without the need for players to download or sign up to anything, they simply need to tap or scan to play.

Janna Sanders, manager of Tavistock BID said that the safari aims to bring some sort of normality back to high streets and ‘demonstrates an effective opportunity to entertain and excite shoppers’.

Over 60 BIDs and councils across the UK are taking part in the MonsterHero Safari project, which has been sponsored by Wild in Art, with the aim of raising over £100k for NHS Charities Together.

Janna added: ‘We are delighted to be part of this national trail.

‘Our town trails are usually very popular and we hope that this event will engage with our younger visitors and their families, helping them feel good about coming back into town.

‘Having fun using safe digital activity is the way forward in the current climate and to be able to raise funds as a town for our own heroes out there on the NHS front line is such a worthy cause.

‘Tavistock is open for business and offers a safe and well management environment for all.’
