MORE children are being encouraged to enter the Bridges of the Tamar Valley competition, whether it be with photographs or art work.

Bob Barrett of the Tamar Valley Tourism Association, which is organising the competition for adults and children, said they had received ?lots of entries?, but so far not so many from children.

Any of the bridges in the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which includes the tidal reaches of the Lynher and Tavy, can be depicted, together with any bridge which crosses the Tamar.

The three age groups are 5-11, 12-18 and over 18 and each winner will receive art equipment or a digital camera.

The judges are Times photographer James Bird, BBC weatherman Craig Rich, and East Cornwall artist Jennifer Bailey.

Judging takes place in the first week of June and winning entries will be on display at the Festival of the Tamar Valley at Morwellham Quay on Sunday, June 22 from 10am to 6pm.

Entry forms are available from TAVATA, Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, PL19 8DQ or on 01822 813622.
