POLICING issues were to the fore on Friday as prospective parliamentary Conservative candidate for West Devon and Torridge, Geoffrey Cox, stepped out on the beat in Okehampton.
During his evening ?on patrol? Mr Cox, who recently completed a nightshift with Tavistock Police, observed officers dealing with incidents at ?turning out? time for local pubs and Nero?s nightclub.
?It was the eve of Ten Tors and the usual Friday night crowds were swollen by visitors from Okehampton Camp,? he said.
?I observed local officers handling very difficult and potentially violent situations with patience and skill.?
