A WEST Devon runner will be embarking on his fourth marathon this weekend, to raise money for a Tavistock charity.

Tavistock resident Roger Hewitt, 58, will be running alongside thousands of others at the London Marathon on Sunday, raising funds for Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS).

Roger runs with Tavistock Athletic Club. He said: 'I was going to run last year but due to injury moved my entry to this year. I heard from my wife, Trichia, that funds were needed at TASS.'

Trichia is a volunteer at TASS. She said: 'Roger is always looking at ways of supporting the local community through his running, and this year he is delighted to be supporting this very worthwhile charity, which supports local people.'

Manager of TASS Andy Lyle said: 'TASS is thrilled to have Roger running for the charity in this year's London Marathon, and anyone who wishes to show their support to him as he pounds 26 miles around London can do so by filling in a sponsor form at the Anchorage Centre.

'We wish him success as he raises much needed funds for TASS to continue to develop to meet the challenges facing local older people in Tavistock and the surrounding area.'
