A POSTPONED perambulation on Dartmoor to raise money for the British Heart Foundation has been rescheduled to take place next month.
The annual Moor Walk, organised by the Tavistock branch of the BHF, was originally due to be held in April but because of bad weather, the committee and leaders took the decision to cancel it for safety reasons.
The 15km walk will take place on Saturday September 1, and will be led by Simon Dell.
The route, not for the faint-hearted, is something of a challenge. It will start at 10.30am from Fourwinds, Rundlestone near Princetown (SX56800 74983) and finish at High Down Car Park Lydford (SX 52446 85325).
Although the walk is to raise funds for BHF, organisers also want the event to be fun. It is not a race, and there will be stops to admire the views and Dartmoor antiquities, and lifts back to Fourwinds or Tavistock can be arranged if necessary.
Participants can either be sponsored or can make a donation to the foundation.
This will be the Tavistock branch's 21st event and organisers hope that anyone who enjoys walking on Dartmoor will join in.
Sponsor forms, registration slips, T-shirts and more information are avaialable from the organisers.

l It is not just Olympians who will be getting medals this year, people taking part in the Dartmoor Trek can wear theirs with pride as they cross the finish line.
The annual 13-mile trek in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care will take place on Sunday, October 14.
By taking part every walker will receive not only a trekking T-shirt to wear on the day but as they finish their 13 miles of Dartmoor's iconic, and at times demanding, landscape, they will be greeted with a medal and a certificate to mark their achievement, followed by a cream tea.
All money raised will help to continue the work carried out by Marie Curie nurses throughout Devon.
Last year, more than 170 walkers raised £15,000 for the nursing service. Join the walk and help smash through that total for 2012.
