LIFTON Cottage Garden Society and WI held their annual horticultural show on August 5 in the church hall ? 46 exhibitors entered 270 entries, a little down on last year, but with plenty of excellent items.

The judges praised the quality of entries and agreed that the star-gazer lily entered by Mrs Hilda Pengelly was a worthy winner of the John Mounce Memorial Rose Bowl for best entry by a Lifton WI member.

Chairman Mrs Jean Greenhalgh introduced Mrs Jill Lewis who was presented with a corsage by Sarah Chater.
